Happy 21st birthday to The Drawingroom!
Congratulations and Happy 21st Birthday to The Drawingroom! Appropriately also the 21st September, the International Day of Peace, for this tucked away oasis in Francis Yard, Chesham.
“It’s intense and uniquely special. Ask anyone who has performed or attended.” – Richard Elkington
The Drawingroom has hosted hundreds musicians and singers over the years. It supports current upcoming young musicians such as Ruby Leigh and Chloe Lorenzten, as well as welcoming for example Grenada’s top singer Sabrina Francis twice this year, 2023.
It has a loyal following including visitors from across Greater London and the south-east, and beyond, to see an eclectic range of artists. All are welcome, including ‘children with well-behaved adults’.
One of Europe’s top guitarists Will McNicol has also been a regular performer and kindly allowed the Visit Chesham and Villages project to use his piece ‘scrapbook’ for our video. Read our blog about Will.
As Richard Elkington says of Chesham ‘the best is something you cannot see, community’.
As befits this International Day of Peace, see The Drawingroom mantra (drawn from the words of the first Buddha in 566BC)
Watch this YouTube video of Richard Elkington telling the story of The Drawingroom back in 2016; it’s continued up and up since then … Happy birthday The Drawingroom!
