Richard Elkington, founder of The Drawingroom sadly passed away on 15 April 2026, a huge loss to the town.
The last music for the foreseeable future was played there on the day of Richard’s funeral, 25 May, and Chesham Fringe Festival 26 May. It is hoped Richard’s legacy of music and community in Francis Yard will continue.

Here is what The Drawingroom Music Venue was about fro 2002 to April 2025…..

The Drawingroom is community arts space indoors and out in one of Chesham’s historic yards, Francis Yard.

Find an eclectic mix of live music events from a range of genres including Jazz, Blues, Folk, Electronic. Food is also served on gig nights. Look out for comedy nights, singles and social nights, storytelling and more.

This venue has hosted well-known international artists –  recently Grenada’s Sabrina Francis, and been home to emerging stars such as Chesham’s very own young super talent, Ruby Leigh.

When possible the gigs are outside, with outdoor heating, hot rocks and blankets provided to keep things cosy. The audience is made up of locals and those who travel from much further afield to see the selected artists.

Open for a range of breakfasts, coffees, lunches and tapas including vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free.
