Chesham Museum, Town Hall

Home of local exhibits since January 2024, the museum sells an array of Chesham-themed books, mugs, tea towels, locally made brushes, and more.

After many years without a physical home, Chesham Museum re-opened in a new venue upstairs at Chesham Town Hall on Saturday 20th January, 2024.

There are thousands of exhibits in storage so exhibitions will be in rotation. So it’s worth dropping in now and again to keep up with what’s on display, and find out more from the friendly and informative staff.

Chesham Museum is open on Saturday and Wednesday 10am – 4pm at Chesham Town Hall, just off the High Street via Baines Walk, HP5 1DS.

Chesham Museum sums up the spirit of Chesham wonderfully with these words on display in the museum:

“People have lived in the local area for thousands of years with their lives revolving around the river and latterly the railway. The landscape of the town has stimulated much industry and growth and given Chesham its famous ‘Bs’ – brushes, boots, bears, beer, bricks and Baptists.

Chesham is home to a diverse community reflecting a long tradition of people who have migrated and settled in the town. Many of Chesham’s inhabitants have achieved great things and stood up for their beliefs from abolition to freedom of speech and suffrage.”
