Lenten Organ Recitals – Chesham

The Grade 1 orgain in the beautiful interior of United Reform Church Chesham

Lenten organ recitals every Friday in Lent at United Reformed Church, Chesham

Take time out and listen to one or more of the organ recital series, every Friday lunchtime during Lent with a Grade 1 organ.

Each recital starts at 12.30pm for a duration of approximately 25 minutes. Optional lunch afterwards with a suggested donation of £4. All welcome.

This beautiful church has hosted over 300 years of worship on the site.

Lenten 2026 recital dates and organists

  • 20 February – Gerard Anderson
  • 27 February – Frances Atkinson
  • 6 March – Georges Orme
  • 13 March – Peter Willett
  • 20 March – Martin Paxton
  • 27 March – Andrew Winton

The organ has been awarded a certificate Grade 1 in recognition of it being an outstanding example of a pneumatic pipe instrument made by Forster & Andrews in 1886.

All are welcome and admission to the recitals is free but donations gratefully received. This is followed by an optional light lunch in our hall behind the Sanctuary with a suggested donation of £4.
Donations will be split between the upkeep of the organ and the Thomas Gascoigne Bursary Fund for aspiring students..

The recitals are organised by Buckinghamshire Organists’ Association and Chesham United Reformed church.
