Mad about baking!
Chesham’s Local Produce Market – and the festival Eid – have set passionate foodies Naz and Naz of Baklavalicious on the sweet path to success.
After stepping back from teaching to shield a brother from Covid, the sister duo decided to celebrate the festival of Eid not by meeting up with loved ones, but by leaving something sweet at their doors. They decided to bake baklava – something they’d never tried before. Fantastic feedback from friends and family finally persuaded them to launch an artisan baking business from their Chesham kitchen.
They began by trialling baklava with different nut fillings. Whilst these went down well with expert tasters at home, an allergy to nuts left one family member on the sidelines. Oreo and Biscoff baklava got over that, and the list of fillings and flavours has grown steadily ever since.
Naz and Naz now bake baklava in 17 flavours, from traditional nut fillings to their own flavour combinations ranging from Salted Caramel to Ferrero Rocher and everything in-between.
